Chinese Scientists Report New Quantum Light Source is a Step Toward More Efficient Quantum Chips
22 Apr 2024: Researchers in China have developed a quantum light source using gallium nitride (GaN), a common semiconductor traditionally used in blue light-emitting diodes. This development is seen as a significant step towards creating functional quantum chips. The GaN-based quantum light source can generate pairs of entangled light particles, which are essential for transmitting information within quantum systems. Additionally, this device offers a broader wavelength range than existing quantum light sources. The researchers suggest that this advancement could lead to more efficient and easily integrated quantum chips, with vast potential applications in quantum computing.
China uses foreign machines to make quantum computers
11 Jan 2024:
A Chinese company has made a 72-qubit superconducting quantum chip with foreign machines as the United States’s curbs failed to slow China’s development in this area.
Origin Quantum, a Hefei-based quantum computer maker, on January 6 officially launched its third-generation quantum computer called Wukong, which uses the name of the Monkey King in Chinese mythology as the superhero can transform into 72 different forms.
The race toward a new computing technology is heating up — and Asia is jumping on the trend
06 Jun 2022: Japan has made key advancements in the quantum computer race, India has developed its own strategy for the technology, and debates are simmering over whether China has surpassed the U.S. on some fronts.
